AI news for humans. Once a week.

Plain English. First-person tested. Built for people who feel behind on AI. Each issue ships with a free pack like this one: the actual files, prompts, and shortcuts to try the tool yourself.

Everything I've ever saved, read, or talked through, in one place, with an AI that files it for me and a gate so the slop stays out.

This is the companion to Day 01 of Finding AI tools that are actually worth it, the weekly Reel series. The Reel's the review. This page is the how-to.

In the Reel I showed you my Big Brain: a dashboard sitting on top of plain markdown files, connecting my notes, conversations, calendar and business into one system that grows as I do. This pack is the layer underneath the dashboard, the part you can actually build yourself this week.

It's plain markdown files plus Claude Code, so it works in any editor, VS Code, Obsidian, whatever you already use. Two ways in:

Either way it adds the three things that turn a pile of notes into a brain:

  1. A trust gate. Every fact is tagged as written-by-you or written-by-AI. Nothing the AI writes counts as true until you approve it. This is the "the slop doesn't get in" part.
  2. A growth ritual. One command spins up a new layer (a topic cluster) in the right place, tagged correctly, so the thing grows cleanly instead of turning into a junk drawer.
  3. One optional background helper. A weekly job that surfaces patterns you'd have missed, as suggestions only. Nice once you're settled, skip it at first, the brain works fine without it.

The first two are the brain, and they're just files plus rules, so they can't really break. The helper (and the rest) are optional extras you add when you want them. If the Reel made you want your own, the setup starts here.

🚀 The fast track setup

One paste. It works out whether you're starting fresh or upgrading an existing vault, asks you three quick questions, then builds the core first and proves it works before any optional extras, with pause-points so you stay in control.
